The Q Strategies team had a busy few weeks strategizing with Tennessee River Gorge Trust (TRGT) to announce its purchase of 32 acres making up Edwards Point atop Signal Mountain in Chattanooga.
Edwards Point is an iconic piece of land that is part of nearly every flyover video and marketing campaign promoting our region. Thousands of people enjoy hiking to Edwards Point every year. However, this land was previously privately owned and unprotected before it was sold to TRGT for preservation purposes, making this a major announcement.
Since the beginning of August, the Q team developed a media strategy, planned the details of a press conference, wrote press materials, assisted in media interviews, and gained online and print media attention for TRGT.
The press conference announcing the land acquisition garnered 10 media placements, and more than 30 people attended the announcement on Sept. 14 at Baylor School’s practice field. Ben Benton from the Chattanooga Times Free Press and Joseph Dycus from Chattanoogan.com attended and provided coverage of the event.
Our team pitched TRGT’s story to several media outlets, leading to additional positive publicity. The land acquisition was featured in several online articles and a print article on the front of the region section in Chattanooga Times Free Press. In addition to an online article from NOOGAtoday, the story was also covered in its newsletter with extensive information about TRGT’s history, plans, and a link to donate.
NOOGAtoday posted about the announcement on Instagram. The post received 5,139 views, 770 likes, and 11 comments. The caption summarized the announcement and encouraged viewers to learn more about TRGT and Edwards Point at the link in their bio.
You can learn more about TRGT and its mission at trgt.org. Be on the lookout for media coverage from Scenic Roots on WUTC with Ray Basset.
