Q Strategies recently participated in one of Chattanooga’s most unique networking opportunities – NoogaNections. The monthly event is the brainchild of John Jerman, President and Founding Partner of Office Furniture Warehouse in Chattanooga.
Jerman said he wanted to create a networking event more focused on true relationship building and business goals than the typical after-hours mixer.
“Someone once told me that if I don’t tell people my business goals and objectives, they’re secrets,” John said with a smile. “Most people we meet in networking events want to help, but if they don’t know what you’re looking for, they can’t send those people your way. By articulating the ideal client or exact problem we solve, we enlist our colleagues to help us recruit business.”
To help attendees reach that objective, he worked with his team to develop a goal board, where attendees use push-pins to attach their business card, along with a brief description of their ideal client.
The event opens with traditional networking time, followed by a Local Business Spotlight, which is often a how-to session about a key business discipline.
In July, Q Strategies gave a few tips and tricks on using public relations to tell your company’s story, including insights on evaluating company announcements for newsworthiness and how to use corporate websites to spread your message effectively.
Attendees engaged in a lively Q & A around social media best practices for promoting their organization and even delved into the options for live streaming events.
