Paid Internship Opportunity at Q Strategies – A Public Relations & Marketing Firm

Why Q Strategies: Our small team is dedicated to providing meaningful learning opportunities to the right student. Q Strategies offers hands-on learning from our account executives and firm leadership. This position will provide comprehensive guidance and oversight.

This is an on-site position located at 715 Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • A minimum of one previous internship.

  • Students must be pursuing a degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing.

  • This position is for juniors or seniors who have completed some advanced communication courses.

  • Time management and dependability - this position requires time tracking for all projects.

  • Dedication to the ethical principles of the Public Relations Society of America - Must follow all policies and procedures, including a non-discrimination policy as well as a non-disclosure agreement regarding all client information, and maintain the highest level of discretion for all related work projects.  PRSSA membership is highly encouraged.

Preferred proficiencies include: 

  • Social media management using Meta Business Suite

  • MailChimp

  • Canva

  • Squarespace/Wordpress (basic editing and content management)

On-the-job training in these tools will be provided.

Position Timeframe: April-September 2026 

Additional Information:

  • 8-10 hours a week in April and May (start date can be as late as May 1, 2026)

  • 25 hours per week for June - September 15. 

  • $15.00 an hour

  • Schedules and hours can be discussed based on your availability and internship requirements.


Student responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Draft meaningful social media content for clients (industries include restaurant, retail, and real estate)

  • Draft announcements for clients

  • Respond to customer inquiries (via social media and social media) on behalf of clients

  • Support event planning (ribbon cutting, groundbreaking)

  • Develop content using Canva for presentation decks and social media

  • Website updates using SquareSpace, Shopify, and Wordpress

  • Create draft newsletters using MailChimp

  • Work with account executives to draft press releases and media advisories

  • Pitch media to local news outlets, bloggers, and industry publications

  • Draft website content and blogs for clients and Q Strategies

  • Industry-specific market research for new clients

  • Follow SEO best practices and tools to identify improvement opportunities for clients and Q Strategies

The details:

Specific work hours are flexible, as this position is part-time, but are generally between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.  At least one evening event will be required during this internship; the date is pending but will be provided well in advance. 

Internship Status & Compensation: This is a paid, part-time, hourly internship position. Interns are compensated at an hourly rate, and hours may vary based on organizational needs. This position is not eligible for paid time off (PTO), health insurance, retirement plans, or other benefits typically associated with full-time or salaried employment.

Physical Requirements: This position may require occasional physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting or carrying materials. The intern must be able to lift and/or move items weighing up to 35 pounds, with reasonable accommodation.

Interns must follow all applicable safety guidelines and promptly report unsafe conditions or incidents to a supervisor.
